About the Artist: Linda has loved making art since she was a child. She has worked as an Artist-in-Residence for more than 15 years, teaching watercolor and weaving; she has taught art at Union High School and Ackerman School at Eastern Oregon University. Linda believes that her love of art and positive attitude help children feel good about their art and themselves. Linda is a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon and Threadbenders Weaving Guild. Many of her works have been exhibited in watercolor shows and Eastern Oregon galleries.
Residency Objectives: Watercolor: Create a finished painting using a variety of watercolor collage techniques. Students will use numerous experimental techniques to produce creative and inspired paintings. Weaving: Students will create a finished woven piece using a variety of weaving techniques. Students will use color, texture, and cultural/historical designs within their woven pieces.
Staff and Community Offerings: Hands-on workshops and teacher in-service in watercolor and weaving.
Facilities and Supplies: Studio space, classroom or push cart. Sink and water should be available.
Material Costs: Watercolor: $2-3, paper, paints. Weaving: $1-1.50 per student
Connection to other Subjects: Math, Social Science and Science. Students will learn, use and analyze elements and principles of design. They will compare and contrast cultural differences.
