About the Aritst: Nancy’s credits include several puzzles, teaching units, articles, and even recipes in children’s magazines. Students may recognize some magazines that she has written for including “Jack and Jill,” “Highlights,” and “Humpty Dumpty.” Her books Out and About at the United States Mint, Out and About at the Bank, Out and About at the Hospital, and Out and About at City Hall are part of a field trip series published by Picture Window Books. They are of interest level for grades K-4. Each book includes activities at the end. In addition, she is the author of a biography about Gloria Steinem. The biography, Gloria Steinem: Champion of Women’s Rights, was written at the request of Compass Point Books. The book is geared to 5th through 7th graders. Nancy has also written many leveled reader books for Harcourt and Houghton Mifflin. Some titles are New England’s Whales, Meet Some Tricksters, Sandcastles, Turn Up the Radio, and Sister Cities. The books are for children in grades 2 through 6. Her work of fiction, The Monster of the Lake, is based on the Wallowa Lake Monster. At present, Nancy is searching for a publisher for this middle grade mystery and she is willing to share it with students.
